Mesabi Bike Trail

Located in northern Minnesota between Ely and Grand Rapids, the Mesabi Trail is a premier MN bike trail winding through some of the state's prettiest regions. The trail traverses 132 miles and connects more than 25 communities. It is well-mapped and well-maintained and also makes an interesting walking path.
Giants Ridge Ski Resort

Minnesota’s number one ski area, Giants Ridge offers 35 downhill runs, miles of cross country trails, an awesome snowboard park and snow tubing park.
Soudan Mine
15 miles 

In Minnesota's oldest iron ore mine, visitors can learn about how mining shaped the history and culture of the Iron Range. Explore the dry house, drill shop, crusher house and engine house and take the boardwalk past one of the deepest open mine pits. Take an underground mine tour and travel a half mile beneath the earth to the deepest area that was mined. And don't miss the hiking trails that take you through a northern hardwood, conifer forest, past the famous Soudan Iron Formation!

Fortune Bay Resort & Casino on Vermillion Lake

North American Bear Center

The North American Bear Center is a nonprofit educational Science and Adventure Center with indoor and outdoor viewing of live black bears in natural habitat with a pond and waterfalls. The 2 ½ acre enclosure is home to three resident bears, Ted, Honey, and Lucky, that people across the world have come to observe forage, swim, and interact with each other. There are over 50 video exhibits of wild Minnesota Bears, a wide variety of daily programs, and a hands-on children’s area.
International Wolf Center

The International Wolf Center supports the survival of wolf populations by teaching about wolves, their relationship to wild lands and the human role in their future. Visitors learn by observing the resident live wolves, touring the award-winning Wolves and Humans exhibit, playing in the Little Wolf exhibit and taking part in a number of daily programs.

Boundary Waters Canoe Area (BWCA) is a majestic and awe inspiring wilderness just waiting for you to explore.  It is home to abundant plants and wildlife, including threatened and endangered species. Great for biking, hiking, canoeing & fishing.
